Tahunanui Beach is a long wide beach, with sandy expanses. It’s a great place to stay as you’ll always find room, and never feel crowded. There’s plenty of parking available and tons of restaurants and food trucks.

Packing Tips:
Whenever I travel to a summer destination, I always pack an oversized shirt that doesn’t need much ironing and I can wear at least a few times to reduce the amount of packing I take with me. This Mango oversized shirt is great to take for the destination you want. I’ve wore it in Comporta, Melbourne, Nelson, Madrid and countless more. You can wear to and from the beach with added shorts or linen pants for the evening.

Where to Stay in Tahunanui Beach:
We stayed at Beaches Nelson. We had a big apartment with outdoor table and chairs and a little garden, the apartment came with a kitchen and my husband was happy that had 2 TVs, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We were walking distance to the beach. They provided us with beach towels and had the friendliest staff. Easy to drive to Kaiteriteri but much prefer Nelson area for the space at the beach and more food options in town. There are tons of fish and chips places but Nelson has more options if you want something healthier.
