New Place, New Year, Same Me

BATHROBE: WEARING THE HOTEL ONE BUT I’VE LINKED A FEW BELOW THAT I’M EYEING BECAUSE I JUST LOVE THEM LIKE THIS WHITE ONE OR THIS MISSONI HOME GIACOMO HOODED BATHROBE | SUNGLASSES:& OTHER STORIES SQUARED SUNGLASSES.

As we begin the new year, I’ve been reflecting on one of the most important things I learned in 2023. I learned to relax and be present. 2023 had many ups and downs but that is life, unexpected, wonderful, terrible all at the same time but at the end of the day, you remember the feelings, who was there for you, who you can trust and what’s important to you. I’ve learned to be present, unplug and relax. It has helped me appreciate things that I took for granted before and I’ve grown because of it.

Traveling has always been a breath of fresh air for me, and this honeymoon has allowed us to disconnect when work slowed down for a bit during the holidays, get closer, discuss goals, challenges and where do we want to go next. I hope you are taking the time to appreciate life and enjoy all the wonderful things that are in your life already. Also, being in a bathrobe when on vacation is the highlight for me. We were lucky to be end and start the year at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown. It was just what the doctor ordered, and we are ready to take on the year ahead, both personally and professionally. Happy new year!

7. Coronet Peak: If you are able to, I highly suggest going to Coronet Peak while in Queenstown, New Zealand. It’s just a 20-minute drive, and you’ll get amazing weeks of Queenstown and surrounding mountains. You can go up with a lift or a gondola, we took the lift up and the gondola down. You can also go mountain biking or for a longer hike. After you can drive to Fox Glacier, about 4 hours and stop by Wanaka town, Makarora, Lake Hawea and the Tasman Sea. For the other six activities we did while in Queenstown, check out my previous post.

8. Fox Glacier: You should probably book this in advance. We went yesterday and decided to do it that morning, just cross the street from our lodge and went to the helicopter information desk and book a heli hike. It included a helicopter transfer in and out Fox Glacier. We got to explore the glacier on foot. This activity takes about 4 hours, 3 hours on the ice if the weather allows. They provide warm gear as waterproof jackets and pants, shoes, socks, and if you get cold while on the mountain they have extra gloves, beanies, warm gear and even snacks if you have to stay extra time because the clouds were too low, and the helicopter cannot come back to get you. They are prepared for everything!
