Styling tip and outfit idea for fall: white cropped jersey, white legged jeans, cropped trench coat, brown belt, brown mules, brown clutch, and out the door in the lightest fall pieces as fall is just making its entrance in Madrid. The cropped length of the trench is what makes this work for me. It hits right at the waist, so it balances the wide-leg jeans without adding bulk, and the buttons tie in with the brown accessories. A white tee under a white jean can feel like a lot of white, but the camel trench breaks it up and keeps the whole look warm instead of stark.

What I love most about this outfit is how easy it is to rewear. The trench is just as good over a striped tee or a fine-knit sweater once the temperatures really drop. The white jeans will go into winter with a chunky sweater and boots, and the mules can swap for sneakers when I’m walking all day. Madrid in early October is still sunny and mild, but the mornings and evenings have a little chill, so a light layer you can take on and off is all you need. That’s the kind of dressing I’m always after: pieces that feel good, work hard, and don’t require a second thought before you head out the door.
