FANCY DRESS: LA DOUBLEJ SILK SWING DRESS WITH FEATHERS | CASUAL DRESS: PISTOLA GLADYS DRESS | SHOES: STEVE MADDEN TRACIE KITTEN HEEL SANDALS | SUNGLASSES: THE MOSANANA OVERSIZED ROUND CAT EYE SUNGLASSES THAT I WEAR NONSTOP ARE $15, ALSO VIA AMAZON.

My most worn and favorite style dress that I can throw on and be out the door in no time. This style from Pistola is very stretchy, has pockets, and it’s a timeless dress you’ll reach again and again. I’m wearing an XS. I wear the S in the skinny straps version otherwise it cuts too much into the arm chest area and we all hate that! The best part about this dress is that is seasonless, you can wear it from spring to summer to fall, when the season gets cooler, throw on a sweater and create a new outfit. If you are self-conscious about your arms, stretch the dress a little more and it will cover all the areas you love to hate.
When it comes to dressing up for events, I try to balance the dress code but add a personal touch so it’s not just another boring dress. I had a black-tie event last week, but it was a Hispanic Gala, so I knew I had more wiggle room to play a little. I went with this colorful, maximalist and super fun dress that was practical yet sophisticated. The feather hem was an unexpected touch and very fall appropriate. Pockets. Shoes I can actually walk in. Elle Woods would be proud, and so would my feet. Practical maximalism is just dressing for the gala without losing the ability to move, snack, and hail a ride. Getting dressed is a mindset, not a dress code.
