Mixing It Up for Formals

Since I’m in a formal wagon, given that my sister’s wedding is next weekend, my best friend is getting married in September, etc., I continue to make up outfits in my head. I mean I can’t buy a new dress or outfit for every wedding I have, not that I wouldn’t want to but let’s be real, who can afford that. Luckily for me, I have collected statement skirts throughout the years, they have been sort of a gift from me to me, and I have carefully selected these pieces knowing that they are timeless, classic and I will love them forever. I simply adore this skirt, all midi skirts are fabulous but this one has the tulle underneath, the print is perfection and I love twirling in it. Wanting to keep things simple and classy, I added a pretty simple black tube top to make it into a formal outfit. You can add sandals, pumps or a pop of color to dress up your feet, you get the idea. Tied Away

Brown, white and black are one of my favorite outfit combos. The color scheme makes it a classic yet leaves room for a lot of creativity for your final look. The leopard heels a little print fun and the oversized bow just makes it an office-ready-to-wear outfit. I can even turn this look into a Halloween costume if I add knee-high stockings, a side ponytail and a notebook. Just trying to be creative here. Office Ready

Belting your blazer is an easy breezy option to give your look a twist and create a waist. I’m a midi skirt, belted blazer kind of girl to the end. My petite yet waist-less figure forces me to look outside the box and find ways to accentuate my waist. Really, belt your blazer and you’ll not only thank me later but you’ll realize you can wear old blazers you had stored in your closet and never thought you’ll wear again. Take me as an example, I almost got rid of this fitted and light blazer from Express but after adding a belt to it, I’ve been wearing it all the time. Spring Ready

This weekend has been fantastic. It finally finally feels like spring. I was able to go to the beach in a fleece of course and stroll down the street through the shops in East Hampton in flats and Toms and I didn’t feel cold at all. I hope everyone’s weekend was great and you got to enjoy your time outdoors. This is such an easy-breezy outfit to wear on the weekends. If you’re a nautical gal like myself you have tons of variety of stripes. Adding a blazer and skinny jeans with nude and effortless flats was a no-brainer. Este fin de semana ha sido excelente. Por fin, por fin se siente la primavera.
