I only invest in classic pieces I know I love today, will love tomorrow and wear forever. I don’t follow trends, I dress with what I like, I choose pieces that fit my body and make me feel good throughout the seasons. Year after a year, I come back to these capsule pieces that are carefully cared for in my closet, in garment bags or on dry cleaning bags to keep the dust away, a trick I learned from my very fashionable mother. Every time I put them on, I feel like a little girl in a candy store, I smile and wear them again and again and they look as good as when I first tried them on.
The embroidery and lace detail on this beauty made it for me. As soon as I saw it online, I knew I had to have it but I waited until we went to Australia on our honeymoon, because I wanted to take advantage of the Australian dollar and get it where the brand comes from, which helped me save and get the taxes back at the airport. It was my gift from me to me, and let me tell you, it was the best feeling. I knew I wanted to wear it with a pop of color, something casual not to take the glam away from the skirt so I got this Zara top after dinner one day because I wanted to wear this outfit to dinner while we were at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, New Zealand.
I always go for a polished and put together look. It’s just natural to me. Getting dressed is the best part of my day, I feel I’ve accomplished something from early on, that is, after making the bed, which is the most relaxing part of my whole day. This skirt conjures elegance and femineity, which I always look for on a staple piece I will invest in. the asymmetry of it makes it playful and sexy and so versatile I can see myself wearing it with a crop top, long sleeve shirt and even a sweater. It’s high-waisted, which is very flattering for my silhouette. I can already see myself wearing this in 10 years for our 10-year anniversary but also later this summer when go to Italy.
