I’m all about brunch so when I heard that an egg-themed installation pop up came to the neighborhood, I made my way to check out Ellis the Egg on the Lower East Side. It certainly helped that I live within a 10-minute walk.

I love eggs for brunch, whether scrambled, flipped, poached or over-easy, eggs are always a main ingredient on my brunches and since we are on the final haul of the long weekend, that being Memorial Day Weekend, I wanted to share my eggsperience at this fun place.

As the weather keeps flipping around in New York City, I tend to take this very casual denim jacket with me wherever I go. It’s light and I can easily wear it if it’s a bit windy and I can take it off once the sun comes out.

Now off to the details, the Egg House will never be the Museum of Ice Cream experience, the quality definitely is a big factor but if you’re looking to do something different and fun in the city with Instagram-friendly backdrops, well there you have it.

The three-month pop up is on its final journey but you can still catch it until the end of June. It’s good for kids to play around as well as adults, who just can’t wait to dive into a caviar pool and make calls from the colorful egg-cenario.

As I mentioned earlier, the yellow and white pool is a replica to the sprinkle one you saw at the Museum of Ice Cream. Not as great quality as the Ice Cream one but you get to stay there as long as you want.

The photo-op greets you from the entrance and escorts you to spinning egg shells, fluffy egg whites, a kitchen stocked with your favorite brunch food and the lovely bubblegum pink spatulas which make another great photo op.

Yolk-colored walls and floors (watch out because these have decayed significantly since the opening) strike you right as you’re walking by 195 Christie St.

The tickets are $18, which is about what brunch will be not counting cocktails in New York City so to me it was worth it because I had fun with my little sister, got to take great photos and got in the mood to go to brunch again today.

To wrap up the exhibition, you go downstairs and find a tiny living space very proper for a New York egg and you’ll end the tour with a garden full of yoga balls and an egg-swing to get one last Instagram photo.

The lighting is not great here but you can get some fun glow-in-the-dark-esque photos for fun as you can see at the end of this post.
