Wine Tasting in Saint-Émilion Bordeaux

DRESS: H&M POPLIN DRESS | SHOES: STEVE MADDEN HADYN SANDALS.

As we continued our journey through Bordeaux country, we headed to Saint-Émilion to check out the town, some of world-famous wineries and the breathtaking chateaus. If you’re new here, you should know that I love vineyards, wine tasting is just the best activity when traveling. Having a glass of wine or waking up surrounded by vineyards, even for a night is just unbelievable. If you haven’t done it yet, what are you waiting for? Note that there are 800 wineries spreading over 8 towns in Saint-Émilion and a part of Libourne in 5400 beautiful hectares, so we only did a handful.

Having been in Provence earlier in the summer and sipping through the region while admiring the beautiful mountains, I have to say that I was very happy with Saint-Émilion’s terrain. It’s flat but the vineyards are everywhere you look. Middle of August you can expect sunny and over casted days which are perfect for walking around the estates and jumping in the pool. More about where we stayed next. Whenever I go to France, I always pack midi and maxi dresses, and a white poplin dress was the way to go for an afternoon filled of chateau hopping. We went to the following chateaus while we were in Saint-Émilion.

Château Balestard La Tonnelle, Balestard, 33330 Saint-Émilion. This was very cute. The main attraction was the terrace overlooking the vineyard, you could the nearby chateaus. You could see Château Soutard, Soutard, 33330 Saint-Émilion, from the terrace. You can simply pop in for a quick tasting. If you want to do a tour you should book in advance.
Château Fonplegade, 1 Fonplegade, 33330 Saint-Émilion, is very beautiful, I suggest booking ahead of time, at least one week before.
Château Fleur de Lisse – Vignobles Jade, 868 Rte du Grand Sable, 33330 Saint-Hippolyte. Pop in for a tasting and enjoy a glass of wine on their patio.

We also stopped by the Château Pavie Macquin, 1 Peygenestau, 33330 Saint-Émilion, as we had been to the hotel the day before for a glass of wine on their terrace.
Château La Marzelle, 9 La Marzelle, 33330 Saint-Émilion, was next door to our hotel so we walked there. very cute deck, and the tasting was self-serve.
Château Pape Clément, 216 Av. Dr Nancel Penard, 33600 Pessac, was stunning, you can book a garden tour, enjoy a tasting or simply walk in to check it out.
