If you have time while visiting Madrid, you should take a day trip to Toledo. It’s only 30 minutes by train and you won’t be disappointed. Many cultures, dynasties, wars and artists have passed thorough this picturesque, Games of Thrones vibes, place. Toledo is on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. The city is known for the medieval Arab, Jewish and Christian monuments in its walls. There’s so much history every step you take. It’s a bit of a hike to go up the hill so wear comfortable shoes, leave the heels at home because cobblestones are best with flat shoes. If you go in the fall, October-November, and are wondering what to wear to Toledo in fall season, I’d take a light jacket/sweater for the mornings and evenings but wear light layers as it gets hot as soon as the clock hits 10 a.m. I wore jeans and at times it felt too much to have on, but I made do since the train can get a bit chilly. Quick and easy trip. I got to see the Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo, the military museum Alcázar de Toledo, the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes was mesmerizing, the Museo del Greco, the various synagogues, so much history and culture in quaint town.  The city has many gates and bridges as it seats on a hill, and one is more beautiful than the other. Visiting Toledo will transport you back to the 16^th century. At times, it feels you’re in another country.

Toledo está en una colina sobre las llanuras de Castilla-La Mancha en el centro de España. La ciudad es conocida por los monumentos medievales árabes, judíos y cristianos en sus murallas. La ciudad tiene muchas puertas y puentes ya que está asentada sobre una colina, y uno es más hermoso que el otro. Visitar Toledo te transportará al siglo XVI. A veces, parece que estás en otro país.
