TOP: CLUB MONACO TOMMIE MERINO WOOL SWEATER (I’VE HAD THIS SWEATER FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND IT’S A GREAT CLASSIC PIECE TO MIX AND MATCH YOUR LOOKS IN FALL AND WINTER) | SKIRT: ITALIAN COTTON ASYMMETRICAL SKIRT (LINKED SIMILAR ONES ON THE SLIDING SECTION BELOW) | SHOES: NIKE DAYBREAK SHOES | SUNGLASSES: KAREN WALKER SUPER DUPER STRENGTH ROUND ACETATE SUNGLASSES.
I got this super cute asymmetrical skirt at Hackbarths, a local store in Hamburg. I first found this skirt last year when I came to Hamburg for the first time, but they didn’t have my size. I went back this year as summer was winding down and to my surprise, they had restocked these Italian pieces and finally got one on my size. They had them in a few colors but the white one is the one that I’ve been wanting for a year, so I went for it. I may need to get a dupe done when I’m home next time. The key is the light cotton material and style of the skirt, to get the puffy effect, the skirt has a button on the inside waist hem and an elastic loop on the bottom of the skirt.
You simply hook the elastic loop to the button, and you get this super fun piece. Now, let’s get into more detail about what to wear in Lake Como in October. After having experienced it, I can honestly confirm that you will get autumn sunshine during the day and you can get away with maxi dresses and asymmetrical skirts but need to keep in mind that early in the mornings and evenings will get chillier and you should bring layers, a raincoat and comfortable shoes. I wore this outfit in early October and at times I felt as I could have just worn a t-shirt. It was over casted this day, but it didn’t rain so I was able to get great photos in the Como city center.
Of course, my white sneakers made an appearance while the clouds were holding in the rain. Since we went for long walks along the lake, I opted for wearing white shorts underneath in case it got cooler but also didn’t want my skirt to get all dirty so I could sit on my shorts and then it remained crispy white. I would recommend against pants and sweater, need to have layers that you can put on and off as the weather changes during the day and I was able to see how some people left in almost winter clothes and within the hour they were sweating because they couldn’t take off some of the base layers.
