What to Wear to Islamorada

DRESS: CUSTOM MADE BUT SIMILAR THAT I ALSO HAVE FROM REFORMATION, CHICWISH, OTHER REFORMATION DRESSES THAT I LOVE | SUNGLASSES: KAREN WALKER SUPER DUPER STRENGTH ROUND ACETATE SUNGLASSES.

While I was in Ecuador I was able to go fabric shopping a few times, I went to Stefanie in Mall del Sol and got some prints and play around with some styles and this dress was the product of one of those creations. I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn’t sure if the tailor was going to get what I wanted and more importantly if it was going to fit me. Needless to say, I’ll be getting more prints and getting my design hat on in December to create new pieces. Luckily, I haven’t seen anyone else yet wearing my print at the beach.

This time around, we stayed at the Pelican Cove Resort & Marina located at 84457 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036. We got a great deal and got rooms with ocean view, balconies and a little lounge area to just sit back, relax and watch the sunrise. The rooms themselves were good size, it even had a couch and a mini fridge to store late night pizza that some may or may not have had for breakfast the next day. Like many other hotels in the area, this one had a pier area where we got to see manatees for a few hours while we were kayaking, which made the experience even more memorable.

We had just gone to Key West the day before to see dolphins and we saw 2 from afar, I was a little disappointed as we saw dozens in Salinas when we went out for my sister’s birthday. We were able to enjoy the pool and the saltwater lagoon while we enjoyed the tropical surroundings. It was very tranquil early in the morning and even in the afternoon it wasn’t busy but that’s maybe because we went during the week. Whereas some places charge you for using their kayaks and paddle boards, Pelican Cove let you borrow them for as long as you wanted so fun had no time constraints.

You can also borrow their snorkel gear and get their free shuttle to their sister properties. You can also escape to their jumbo lawn games such as giant chess game and corn in the hole that brings me back to Maryland and Florida days. So here they are, the real stars of the show, we saw a mom and few cubs, the last one is holding and playing with a snorkel that someone must have dropped by mistake.
