When it comes to what to wear to a White House Correspondent’s Dinner black tie event in Washington, D.C., there are several ways you can go about it. Some opt for shorted, mid-length dresses for these events, but I try to stay formal. The venue of the after parties also matter. If a hotel or venue, you can probably get away with a semi-formal gown. If at an embassy though, I strictly suggest wearing a long dress even if it’s not black tie per se. Mara Hoffman’s popcorn dresses are extremely form-fitting. The fabric is stretchy and very elegant. The sleeves are a fun twist, which makes a rather simple black dress, extra and you know me, give me all the extra I can get.

The ruffled rosettes on the bodice and off-shoulder long sleeves as I mentioned earlier are what make this dress the IT dress. The Zia dress and the Sloan dress are a bit simpler if you want something easy. I was also contemplating at this Alice + Olivia dress in red and black. Important to keep in mind is to wear something that is you, a piece that you feel comfortable in because confidence is your best accessory. At the end of day when I was deciding what to wear to the White House Correspondent’s dinner after party event, I opted for this stunner, a LBD (little black dress) upgraded and it did not disappoint. I felt feminine, comfortable and I was happy all around with my choice.
