I recently went on a 7 night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day, Harmony of the Seas cruise with my family and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. Each adult can take one bottle of wine onboard, take note because the wine on the dinners is not great so if you want your rose and champagne, take one bottle and enjoy it. I’ve never been on a cruise before, it just never attracted me but due to a family last minute change, I hoped in and I had a great time. I still prefer to go and explore a place on its own, but I enjoy the cruise far more than expected. Yes, you have buffets, and you overeat, and the pools are crowded, I never used them, but there’s a gym, a running/walking track around the ship, shows, musicals, live music and family dinners you get to enjoy onboard. We stopped in the Bahamas and enjoyed a perfect day at Cococay. All and all it was good time to reconnect with family and spend quality time together.
Then we sailed to St. Thomas and went to Magens Bay Beach (the heart-shaped beach), and our final stop was St. Maarten, and we spent the day at La playa hotel, where my sister had stayed before. Great service, the tuna tartare and sushi were superb, and we had lounge chairs for a relaxing day by the ocean. What to wear on a cruise to the Caribbean is pretty straight forward. Take your best bikinis, beach cover-ups, hats, sunblock, sandals, comfortable clothes and a few semiformal outfits for the formal dinners on the cruise. The Ikea mesh bag is great for traveling, you can throw it in the sand, dust it off and when really sandy, rinse it off back on the cruise and leave it to dry on the balcony and it will be clean and dry the next day.
El mes pasado, por primera vez, me fui a un crucero de 7 noches por el Caribe Oriental y Perfect Day con mi familia y debo admitir que me sorprendió. Puedes llevar una botella de vino por persona, toma nota! Nunca antes había estado en un crucero, simplemente nunca me atrajo, pero debido a un cambio familiar de último minuto, me uní y lo pasé lindo. Todavía prefiero ir y explorar un lugar por mi cuenta, pero disfruté el crucero mucho, más de lo esperado. Sí, tienen buffets, comes en exceso y las piscinas están repletas, nunca las usé, pero hay un gimnasio, una pista para correr/caminar alrededor del barco, espectáculos, musicales, música en vivo y cenas familiares que puedes disfrutar a bordo. Paramos en las Bahamas y disfrutamos de un día perfecto en Cococay.
Luego navegamos hasta St. Thomas y fuimos a Magens Bay Beach (la playa en forma de corazón), y nuestra última parada fue St. Maarten. Pasamos el día en el hotel La playa, donde mi hermana se había alojado antes. Gran servicio, el tartar de atún y el sushi estuvieron deliciosos, y tuvimos un día relajante al pie del mar. Qué ponerse en un crucero por el Caribe es bastante sencillo. Te recomiendo llevar tus mejores bikinis, pareos de playa, sombreros, bloqueador solar, sandalias, ropa cómoda y algunos outfits semiformales para las cenas formales del crucero. La bolsa de malla de Ikea es ideal para viajar, puedes tirarla a la arena, quitarle el polvo y, cuando esté muy arenosa, enjuagarla en el crucero y dejarla secar en el balcón y estará limpia y seca al día siguiente.
