Bonnieux: Continuing with our trip through the South of France, we rented a car in Marseille and head to Bonnieux, a cute little town with breathtaking hill views. We stopped here for a drink and a little walking before continuing to Aix-de-Provence, which was a bigger town and where we had lunch, walked around, did some shopping and enjoyed a nice cold glass of rose of course. There are so many cute towns that it’s hard to decide where to stop. We had a few places penciled down but if we saw something we liked, we just stopped and checked it out. Côte d’Azur was even better than we ever expected it to be.

What to Wear in Provence in Summer: Maxi and midi dresses are great options to wear in Provence during summer as early mornings and evenings can get windy or a tad chilly, especially in June and early July. Linen pieces are a must. Think linen pants, linen dresses, linen oversized shirts to wear as layers or with pants for a classic yet effortless look. For the most part, I used maxi dresses. I also packed a white vest and a white long skirt for a day of walking around in Provence.

Gordes: I only wore sandals on this trip. I flew with sneakers but wore sandals to the beach, to the vineyards, to the restaurants and all day in and out. Loved Aix-de-Provence. The markets, the art, the vibes, would definitely go back. On our second day in Provence, we went to Gordes, which we fell in love with. It’s a small town with beautiful gardens, not crowded, about an hour north of Aix-de-Provence. They have a Laduree and other casual restaurants in the town as well as tiny local shops.

We went to Arielles and had the most decadent dinner at their L’Orangerie restaurant. Their staff was the nicest, they knew we were celebrating our anniversary, so they gave us a little congratulatory note and a take-out breakfast dessert that we were instructed to have the next day. We had ice cream every night and rose every afternoon because when in Provence, right? Make sure you drive to the other side of town, across from Le TIGrr to see Gordes in all its glory. Morning and evening views are equally breathtaking but so different.

On our last day in Gordes, we went to Le TIGrr, an Asian restaurant sitting on the edge of the village with a fantastic view of the Luberon Valley. We were originally going elsewhere for dinner but once we saw this place there was no going back. We had a long dinner and ended having another round of drinks on the cutest spot watching the sunset. the indoor space is also nice, but the outdoor space is what you go for.
