What to Wear in Marseille in Summer: When visiting Marseille in the South of France during the months of June and July, you have warm days in the 70s and early mornings and evenings in the 60s. The French dress comfortably but chic. I suggest packing maxi dresses, midi dresses, oversized shirts and pants. A blazer or light sweater is a must for those windy times. Marseille is best known for being a very important port and trading center for France, so if you’re taking a long walk after dinner, a light layer is best. Think breathable fabrics when packing, cotton and linen are great for summer.

What to do in Marseille on Day 1: Marseille is a very easy city to get around. The old port, city center, opera house are all quick to see. Head to the Park Emile Duclaux for a nice view of the city and while you’re at it, check out the Palais du Pharo, a cultural landmark. If you keep walking, you’ll get to a small beach, Plage des Catalans where you can see locals playing volleyball and enjoying summer soaking in the sun and water. Walked by Fort Saint-Jean on our way to the beach. The Porte d’Aix is a smaller version of the Arc d’Triumph but in the center, you can swing by on your way to lunch.

What to do in Marseille on Day 2: Take an uber, bus or city trolley to the Basilica of Notre Dame of la Garde. Beautiful views from the top and if you are up to it, walk down to city center, less than 20 min walk. The Palais Longchamp is not to miss, photos were taken there. you can get food everywhere but the closer to the port you are, the more touristy the places and food will be.

Make sure you check out the Cours Honoré-d’Estienne-d’Orves also known as the Henri Estienne d’Orves Square, it’s a cute square full of restaurants with tons of outdoor space so you can enjoy a glass of rose or two al fresco in one spot, get an appetizer at another one and grab dinner at a last one just because you want to try different spots. This area was probably my favorite part from our entire trip. Very quaint, vibrant and tons of options to choose from.
