VEST: MANGO SUIT VEST WITH BUTTONS | PANTS: VINTAGE FROM MY MOM’S CLOSET (SIMILAR HERE).
Bordeaux, France is only a 50 min flight from Madrid. In August, you can expect cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons, but manageable. Go for a walk on the boardwalk, enjoy le Miroir d’eau, the world’s largest reflecting pool, grab a bite in one of the many squares. Visit the Place de la Victorie, Place Pey Berland, Grand Théâtre, Les Chartrons, Saint Pierre, the Place de Palais, Place du Parlement, the Basilica of Saint Michael, the Quartier de la Grosse Cloche/Saint Paul was the cutest neighborhood, full of life, cafes with outdoor spaces and boutiques. If you have more than a weekend, I highly suggest you go to Saint- Émilion, Medoc, Soulac-sur-Mer.
Now, let’s focus on what we always want to know but not always get a straight answer. What to wear in Bordeaux in August. First off, keep it casual and comfortable. Bordeaux is a walking city and if you’re planning to leisurely walk, flats, sandals and sneakers are the way to do. Lightweight dresses, a dressy vest, linen pants, mini, midi and maxi dresses as well as matching sets work very well. The city is beautiful, I like it better than Marseille. I’m a good packer so I wore this easy vest with linen pants on the flight so I could simply drop off bags at the hotel and hit the town. You can see locals wearing linen and light fabrics throughout the city.
