Trendy Thursday: Polka Picnic

MariaOnPoint | Trendy Thursday: Polka Picnic

Picnic basket: SunnyLife picnic basket for 2 – I’m headed to the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Saturday and while searching the web for last minute fascinators and lace umbrellas in stores in New York City, I came across this perfect picnic for 2 basket extravaganza, I may or may have not ordered it, isn’t it adorable? | Sunglasses: Karen Walker Super Duper Strength sunglasses – I love tortoise print on sunglasses and even though I have this pair in plain black, I like how the tortoise clashes with the polka dot dress | Hat: Topshop boater straw hat – can’t have a full blown lawn party without a straw boater hat right?! | Dress: Saloni Grace off the shoulder polka dot dress via Intermix – this dress was love at first sight, I saw it in the store last weekend, I tried it on and it was putting on the perfect size glove. This style, off-the-shoulder, that is, is perfect for petite women, it accentuates your shoulders for a little sexy exposure while keeping your look light and feminine, the length is great because it will be cropped by your ankles in my case or it can be floor length for shorter women | Shoes: Steve Madden Christey chunky heels – I’ve been coveting these chunky heels for a while and the fit is perfection, the chunky heels make the sandals so comfortable, which is great for those outdoor events like polo watching and rose parties on boats that you want to wear heels but want to be able to stand on your feet for at least 4 hours.

Splurge vs Steal: Denim Off-the-Shoulder Dress

MariaOnPoint | Splurge vs Steal: Denim Off-the-Shoulder Dress

Chambray and denim off-the-shoulder dresses were in high demand last summer so it’s only natural that this year, all brands have some version of the chambray off-the-shoulder dress. All these four options are great; they vary in price and quality. I’m all about quality over quantity but when it comes to simple summer dresses such as these, I do look at fast fashion houses such as the three options under $100. I’ve tried the Express and Zara ones on and the fit is the same. The dresses are loose so there’s not that much difference. One thing I do want to highlight is that all four options fit petite girls. Do you worry sometimes, your figure is a bit on the straight line side and don’t have much curves to show? You’re not alone. This dress style is perfect for petite girls as they fall nicely on and they show a little shoulder for a fun summer look. Anthropologie: Alexa Chung for AG ruffled chambray dress | Express: Denim off the shoulder trapeze dress | Asos: Chorus petite ruffle off the shoulder dress | Zara: Denim off-the-shoulder dress.

Trendy Thursday: Off-the-shoulder Check Party

MariaOnPoint | Trendy Thursday: Off-the-shoulder Check Party

Shoes: Schutz margo dress sandals (similar from Steve Madden at half the price) – these sandals have become my go-to this season, I wear them all the time, the zig zag details on the lace-up ads a little something extra to any outfit | Hat: J.Crew wide brimmed straw hat (also loving these ones: 123) – no caption needed here, I wear this hat as much as I can during summer. It not only protects me from the strong sunshine but it looks cute on and on top of that it can cover any bad hair day | Pants: J.Crew martie pant in bi-stretch cotton – if you like the Minnie patns, the martie ones are great and they’re high-waist if you like this style better | Top: Caroline Constas Gabriella off the shoulder gingham bustier top via Intermix (15% off + free standard shipping on your first full-priced purchase with code RS15) – you know how obsessed I am with off-the-shoulder tops but this gingham top is not only fitted but comfortable; it’s really fitted on the chest area which helps petite girls like myself. If you’re a petite size, give this top a try and I promise you it won’t be disappointed | Bag: Stella McCartney blue denim falabella stars tote – stars and sunshine for summer, enough said | Sunglasses: Karen Walker Number One sunglasses via Shopbop – my go-to sunglasses year-around.

Splurge vs Steal: Bohemian Afternoon

MariaOnPoint | Splurge vs Steal: Bohemian Afternoon

Today’ I’m sharing with you a splurge and steal option for petite outfits for a bohemian afternoon. Personally, I always look for petite sizes, Nordstrom junior’s department is amazing and significantly cheaper than the others. When I find a P or S size, I always go for the petite but when it comes to J.Crew for example, I’m usually a 00 or an XXS and the fit is just right. These two options fit a petite figure great, they’re fitted but loose at the same time. How is this possible? These options are fitted in the hip and shoulders but loose on the legs and torso which give you an easy breezy feel when going out this summer. Splurge option – Shorts: Rag & Bone marin rip cut offs | Top: Christophe Sauvat exclusive Bolshoi off the shoulder top | Hat: Rag & Bone laurie straw boater hat | Sunglasses: Karen Walker Number One Sunglasses | Shoes: Aquazzura Christy lace-up point-toe flats | Steal option – Shorts: | H&M denim shorts high waist | Top: H&M patterned off-the-shoulder top | Hat: Sole Society wide brim straw boater hat | Sunglasses: H&M sunglasses| Shoes: Calvin Klein harlin suede pointed toe lace-up sandals.
