Summer Formal

Summer wedding outfits can range from summer casual to city glamour. It all depends on where it is, time of day and dress code. My 411 wedding dress code is very simple to follow. If the invitation, says black tie, go with long dress no questions asked. If the dress code is formal, you can go with a city chic look and wear a long, knee high or short formal dress.

I know what you’re thinking. What do you do, when the dress code is summer chic or formal.. well, summer allows for flexibility. Country club wedding? Go with a flower/print dress. Beach wedding? Maxi or cute little sexy numbers always work.

Take this wedding I recently went to as an example, the wedding dress code was summer formal and it was hosted outside so I wore a short Marciano bandage dress and Jimmy Choo sandals. Everyone wore different variations of summer formal dresses and they all worked. When in doubt, just ask!

It was my first Indian/Jewish wedding and I was super excited to see all the traditions. After the wedding ceremony, Tracy wore a Lehenga (she looks like Jazmin from Aladdin, so cute!) and Matt wore a Sherwani. Grooms men wore Kurtas and the bridesmaids wore Saris.

Remember it’s never too early to plan a killer wedding outfit. I hope this dress guide to summer wedding outfits was helpful. Have a great weekend, xoxo.

Summer Chic

Just a little peek into the Sislen wedding reception. This past weekend, I had the honor of sharing Matt and Tracy’s wedding celebration at Matt’s family bay house in Maryland. The place was stunning and we never stopped dancing.

The summer chic reception prior to the wedding day was filled with delicious crabs, crawfish and other deliciousness. As requested by the lovely bride, we all wear our summer chic outfits which included a rainbow of colors, boat shoes, summer heels and clutches.

Currently loving flower silhouette dresses and summer chic outfits. My outfit: Forever21 flower print dress, Charles David heels, Fendi bag, Michael Kors watch, vintage bangle, Mint Julep starfish earrings. Tracy wore a Monique Leshman one shoulder dress and Beth wore a pink straples form Zara.

I hope everyone is having a good week! Tune in on Thursday for more summer chic fun!

Those are some handsome Tulane boys.

Sun

I’m not a hat person, I’ve tried countless hats and they never seem to fit. So you can only imagine how excited I was when I found a hat that finally fitted well.

This Urban Outfitters sun hat is the perfect size and so cute. They have it in other colors. I’m considering the idea of getting the red stripes one.

Summer and hats go hand in hand, if you want to see more hat suggestions, check out my pinterest hat collection.

Pablo loves the bay (East Hampton), playing baseball with Will and bathing in the bay are his favorite hobbies.

My Look: Forever21 dress (old), Mint Julep Starfish Earrings and bracelet, Asos enamel zig zag ring, Michael Kors watch and Rayban aviators.

Topsiders

When it comes to traveling, I tend to opt for my Sperry Topsiders. It’s simple math. Beach + summer = Topsiders. This pair is amongst one of my favorite pairs of flat shoes. They’re s comfy and instantly add a hint of casual sophistication.

You can find them on a wide variety of colors, shapes and styles. I love the brown classic ones but the navy and white ones keep haunting my wish-list cart.

Hope these little tips will help some of you select the perfect Topsiders.

JCrew vintage cotton v-neck, JCrew cropped matchstick, Karen Walker sunglasses, Mint Julep Starfish Earrings, vintage bangles, Asos enamel zig zag ring, Michael Kors watch and Mango quilted messenger bag.
