Yellow + Tan

Any given Sunday calls for extra hours of sleep, watching TV on the couch and if you’re lucky, styling a friend or neighbor for fall. Whenever friends ask me to go shopping with them, I’m totally down. I like shopping by myself and with company. You have to admit it’s nice to have someone to help you decide when you have picked 10 dresses and are no where near in the decision making process. Shopping is such a fun adventure, even window-shopping. It feels good to walk and see the new collections, how seasons change, what colors are going and which ones are coming. I have nailed down the stores that I must go to or take my friends to when we’re shopping in DC or New York.

Pop of Red

My essential fall look consists of layering dresses, skirts and skinnies with classic pieces such as: utility/tweed jacket, trench coat or a blazer. My wardrobe staples mix nicely with outfits most people associate with spring and summer but I like to wear florals such as this H&M dress (current) with a Zara blazer (similar here) for a fall refreshment splash.

The Zara suede shoes (I’m obsessed with these Alice + Olivia shoes) and Clare Viver pouch I got from Anthropologie add a fun twist to the outfit. Floral dresses are very feminine and the jacket addition keeps the outfit casual. I wear this same outfit minus the blazer at a wedding brunch I went a few weeks ago and now that fall is near, all I have to do was accessorize my outfit with my fall essentials and bam!

To complete my outfit, I wore my favorite House of Harlow 1960 Chelsea sunglasses, Michael Kors oversize gold watch and Stella & Dot renegade bracelet, Mint Julep starfish earrings.

Trina

Silk blouses have always been a good friend of mine. They’re reliable throughout seasons and always have that easy, comfy, chic feel. I wear this Trina Turk silk blouse with peach jeans in the spring and with JCrew Minnie pants at the office year around. Let’s move to outfit enhancement now.

Flats are a must-have in my bag. Blush flats are a must-have on every girl’s closet. You can get them pretty much everywhere but why pay $100 for flats you’re going to wore out in less than a year right? Mine are from Payless (under $20) and they look and feel great.

My LAMB bag was another bargain I got a few years ago at Loehmmans. Michael Kors oversize gold watch, House of Harlow 1960 Chelsea sunglasses, Stella & Dot bracelet and Forever 21 rings and JCrew belt completed my outfit. The top knot has become one of my favorite accessories for two reasons: it’s soooo easy to do (it takes me less than 2 minutes and keeps me out of trouble when I’m running late for work) and always looks classy.

Simple Black

There can be many black dresses in your life not just the one. Especially when it comes to work outfits. I love black dresses whether to go out or to go to the office, they’re always a classic piece and you can dress them up and down depending on the accessories you have. Take this black H&M dress for example, I have had it for a few years now and it’s still going strong. It’s a bit shorter than what I usually wear to work but I usually wear it with flats or tights in the fall when I go to the office. If I’m going to a happy hour though, I bring the heels on (Zara).

Also on this shoot: LAMB bag, House of Harlow 1960 Chelsea sunglasses, Mint Julep clover earrings, Michael Kors oversize gold watch, Stella & Dot bracelet, Forever 21 bracelets. Here’s a little trick that has helped me take good care of my clothes throughout the years: I keep dry-cleaning plastic covers and cover my clothes with them. The plastic covers keep my clothes like new, cover them from dust and when I unwrap a dress, it feels like it’s brand new. My organized self plus the bags have helped keep some clothes for over 10 years, crazy right?
