While I carefully pick my bikinis, I’m equally devoted to what I’m going to wear on top of them each summer. Needless to say, I don’t have as many beach cover ups as I do bathing suits, but these fun pieces are equally as important and can be versatile. I tend to go with neutral colors to match my printed bathing suits but every once in a while, I pick a colorful printed cover up or pareo, how I call them to match my neutral crop tops I wear in summer. To be honest, every time I need a new bikini, I think about what cover ups I already have in my closet and sometimes I get a new cover up to go along the new bathing suit to add a little something extra to the look.

I have some beach tunics I enjoy wearing in the summer and are very practical but for the most part, I tend to go with knee-length or maxi wrap skirts that I can wear easily over my bikinis and walk around in the heat of the summer. In these cases, I treat my bikini tops as crop tops because putting on an extra layer is an overkill in those hot summer days. Crop linen pants are also another alternative for beach styling, shorts and oversized stripe shirts also make my list. Crocheted maxi dresses are cute but I have not found one that is light enough to wear in the summer yet. The last one I ordered was too heavy and I could see myself sweating in it before even leaving the house.

Blue and white combos are always a timeless, sophisticated, and chic color combination that give you summer vibes in a subtle yet perfect backdrop way. You look cute, stay cool in the heat, and carry flattering colors. Whether you’re wearing them to the beach, to brunch, to date night or to run errands, these colors are always a favorite in my closet. Even though these colors are very neutral, you can spice things up with a pop of bright blue to get a punch look. Bodysuits are a good alternative for cooler summer days because you still look beachy but can pull off a dressier look for running errands before heading to the beach later that day.
