Islamorada was every bit as quaint and relaxing as I imagined it would be. This little town is the perfect quick getaway from Miami, 1.5 hours to be exact. You can go for the day, a night or a week. This time around, I went for two days, and it was perfect.

WHAT TO WEAR: If you’re headed to Islamorada, Key Largo, or all the way to the tip of the Florida Keys, you’re probably wondering what should you wear to the Keys, what you should pack for Islamorada, and so forth. Remember to stick to the basics and your style will come naturally to you. Let’s start from the beginning, you’re at the beach so pack light layers, sweaters, a pashmina, and a pair of white jeans for cooler evenings. For daytime, pack all the cute bikinis you’ve been meaning to wear since last summer, bring a hat, a straw hat, that extra oversized straw hat you love and it’s a struggle to carry sometimes but it makes you oh so happy to have it around. Bring sandals, maybe wedges if you’d like, I’m all about comfort so sandals and running shoes, sunblock is a must, and all the cute summer pieces you love to wear such as wide-legged pants, crop tops, LWD, LBD, pareos, off-the-shoulder dresses, maxi dresses that are summery and great for a nice dinner out. It’s very casual but you can always dress up a bit more for dinner. Remember that at the end of the day, you’re dressing for yourself so wear what suits you, what makes you smile, stop saving that gorgeous dress for when you go to Europe or the Caribbean, pack your lovely piece and bring it on your next road trip.

WHERE TO STAY: Stayed at Cheeca Lodge, which I highly recommend. It’s a serene resort on the Florida Keys that has everything you need. You can have a romantic dinner, enjoy breakfast from your balcony while looking at the ocean, have a cocktail by the water, or make a bonfire.

WHAT TO DO: Go to the spa, play golf, tennis, and all sorts of water sports and snorkel, of course, a crowd favorite. It can be pricey but if you go during the week you can get a great deal. If you want to spend the day snorkeling, you can drive to John Pennekamp in Key Largo.

WHERE TO EAT: When it comes to food, you should try the beach café at Morada Bays, the salads, sandwiches and abundant rose are perfect for lunch and the view is both colorful and breathtaking, it’s a Mediterranean place but you can get all the good food you would want on vacation. Now let’s talk dinner, if you are looking for a romantic place, I recommend Pierre’s, which is next door to Morada Bays, ask to be seated upstairs on the corner in the balcony and it will be super cute and romantic evening. Watch the sunset while you enjoy a glass of wine, the service is phenomenal, and the French fusion cuisine did not disappoint. All the restaurants are very close to each other and only a 5 min drive from my hotel, which was very convenient. I was also recommended to check out Chef Michael‘s for dinner, Lorelei’s for lunch for a Mahi sandwich, very laid back spot plus they have the famous frotharitas, which is 1/2 a frozen, 1/2 on the rocks margarita that’s a crowd-pleaser. Islamorada Fish Company is cute for lunch too. You can drop by Robbie’s for a drink in the daytime and also feed the tarpon there. There are a few other restaurants that recommended to me to go for afternoon cocktails or bites, but these ones are the top 2 you do not want to miss.

Islamorada war genauso malerisch und entspannend, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Diese kleine Stadt ist der perfekte Kurzurlaub von Miami, 1,5 Stunden um genau zu sein. FASHION: Sie sind am Strand, also tragen Sie leichte Schichten, bringen Sie einen Hut, Sandalen, Sonnencreme und all die süßen Sommerstücke mit, die Sie gerne tragen. Sie können für den Tag, eine Nacht oder eine Woche gehen. HOTEL: Dieses Mal war ich zwei Tage dort und es war perfekt. Ich war in der Cheeca Lodge, die ich sehr empfehlen kann. Es ist ein ruhiges Resort auf den Florida Keys, das alles bietet, was Sie brauchen. Sie können ein romantisches Abendessen genießen, vom Balkon aus frühstücken mit Blick auf das Meer, einen Cocktail am Wasser trinken oder ein Lagerfeuer machen, ins Spa gehen, Golf, Tennis und alle Arten von Wassersport spielen und natürlich schnorcheln, a Publikumsliebling. Es kann teuer sein, aber wenn Sie unter der Woche gehen, können Sie ein tolles Angebot machen. ESSEN: Wenn es ums Essen geht, sollten Sie das Strandcafé in Morada Bays probieren, die Salate, Sandwiches und die üppige Rose sind perfekt zum Mittagessen und die Aussicht ist sowohl farbenfroh als auch atemberaubend, es ist ein mediterraner Ort, aber Sie können all das gute Essen bekommen, das Sie würden in den Urlaub wollen. Lassen Sie uns jetzt über das Abendessen sprechen, wenn Sie nach einem romantischen Ort suchen, empfehle ich Pierre’s, das neben den Morada Bays liegt. Bitten Sie darum, oben an der Ecke des Balkons Platz zu nehmen, und es wird ein super süßer und romantischer Abend. Beobachten Sie den Sonnenuntergang, während Sie ein Glas Wein genießen, der Service ist phänomenal und die französische Fusionsküche hat Sie nicht enttäuscht. Alle Restaurants sind sehr nah beieinander und nur 5 Autominuten von meinem Hotel entfernt, was sehr praktisch war. Es gibt ein paar andere Restaurants, die mir empfohlen haben, am Nachmittag Cocktails oder Snacks zu trinken, aber diese sind die Top 2, die Sie nicht verpassen sollten.

Islamorada fue tan pintoresca y relajante como imaginé que sería. Esta pequeña ciudad es la escapadita perfecta de Miami, 1,5 horas para ser exactos. Puedes ir por el día, una noche o una semana. QUE EMPACAR: Estás en la playa, así que usa capas ligeras, trae un sombrero, sandalias, bloqueador y todas las lindas piezas de verano que te encanta usar. DONDE HOSPEDARTE: Esta vez, fui por dos días y fue perfecto. Me alojé en el Cheeca Lodge, que recomiendo mucho. Es un resort divino en los Cayos de Florida que tiene todo lo que necesitas. Puedes tener una cena romántica, disfrutar del desayuno desde tu balcón mientras miras el mar, tomarte un cóctel junto al agua o hacer una fogata, ir al spa, jugar golf, tenis y todo tipo de deportes acuáticos y por supuesto hacer snorkel, un favorito de la multitud. Puede ser caro, pero si vas durante la semana puedes conseguir una buena oferta. DONDE COMER: Cuando se trata de comida, debes probar el café de la playa en Morada Bays, las ensaladas, sándwiches y abundante vino rose son perfectos para el almuerzo y la vista es impresionante, es un lugar mediterráneo pero puedes conseguir toda la buena comida que quieras cuando estás de vacaciones. Ahora hablemos de la cena, si estás buscando un lugar romántico, te recomiendo Pierre’s, que está al lado de Morada Bays, pide sentarse arriba en la esquina del balcón y será una velada súper linda y romántica. Mira la puesta de sol mientras disfrutas de una copa de vino, el servicio es fenomenal y la cocina de fusión francesa no defraudó. Todos los restaurantes están muy cerca unos de otros y a solo 5 minutos en coche de mi hotel, lo cual fue muy conveniente. Hay algunos otros restaurantes que me recomendaron ir a tomar cócteles o bocadillos por la tarde, pero estos son los 2 primeros que no querrá perderse.
