You can style a chunky sweater by adding a neutral coat such as this wonderful J.Crew piece. It’s my new favorite coat in my closet. It’s very light. You get a loose fit which makes the perfect fit for a chunky sweater. you can add a scarf for the cooler months. I opted for gold jewelry to elevate the otherwise very casual look. I choose to pair this with sneakers because I’m in Madrid and walk around all day if I can. Oversized sunglasses are my go-to. Another way you can style a chunky sweater is by adding a light sleeveless turtleneck sweater underneath for extra warmth, again for the cooler months and still look effortless.

This look is perfect for brunch, a stroll at El Parque del Retiro and a movie afternoon. I went from morning to evening and it was perfect. During the day I took off the coat because it gets quite warm but for the earlier morning and evening the coat was just the layer I needed to keep warm and walk home.  You can also opt for a midi dress underneath the chunky sweater or a midi skirt to add structure to an oversized sweater look. The best thing about chunky sweater is that you’re super comfortable from day to night, you can go at it at brunch and be happy you’re not wearing something tight if you know what I mean.
