Trendy Thursday: Polka Picnic

MariaOnPoint | Trendy Thursday: Polka Picnic

Picnic basket: SunnyLife picnic basket for 2 – I’m headed to the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Saturday and while searching the web for last minute fascinators and lace umbrellas in stores in New York City, I came across this perfect picnic for 2 basket extravaganza, I may or may have not ordered it, isn’t it adorable? | Sunglasses: Karen Walker Super Duper Strength sunglasses – I love tortoise print on sunglasses and even though I have this pair in plain black, I like how the tortoise clashes with the polka dot dress | Hat: Topshop boater straw hat – can’t have a full blown lawn party without a straw boater hat right?! | Dress: Saloni Grace off the shoulder polka dot dress via Intermix – this dress was love at first sight, I saw it in the store last weekend, I tried it on and it was putting on the perfect size glove. This style, off-the-shoulder, that is, is perfect for petite women, it accentuates your shoulders for a little sexy exposure while keeping your look light and feminine, the length is great because it will be cropped by your ankles in my case or it can be floor length for shorter women | Shoes: Steve Madden Christey chunky heels – I’ve been coveting these chunky heels for a while and the fit is perfection, the chunky heels make the sandals so comfortable, which is great for those outdoor events like polo watching and rose parties on boats that you want to wear heels but want to be able to stand on your feet for at least 4 hours.

  2. You always make everything look so chic, Maria! I’ve had the hardest time figuring out how to wear my scarves. Maybe it’s because they’re too big? I tried a few variations around the neck and they always seem to come out bulky for me! I wish I had your skills. I end up tying them around my hair instead, lol.

    1. Thanks my dear. I love chunky scarves for fall and winter, can wear them as blanket scarves and they always keep me cozy specially when I’m traveling. The neckerchiefs and smaller scarves are great for spring and summer, just a little something extra to your outfit. I love that you wear them on your hair. I’ve only done that when traveling with the windows down and don’t want to mess up my hair ha. It’s super easy, I like this classic, old school wrap but you can tie the knot in the back to have a simple subtle look too that I’m sure would look fantastic on you.

  3. Maria, I’m loving all your snaps from the Jazz Age Lawn Party! You look elegant as always. :)

I’ve always wanted to go to the party, so maybe next year will finally be my lucky year! In the meantime, I’ll be living vicariously through you.
